What's a lifestyle session like? - Here's another example of the way I photograph a family portrait.  My work is less about what is happening on any given day, but what happens in a lifetime!  What I mean is this day, every moment is your life is a memory.  One day you'll look back on these simple daily rituals as a fairy tale, the lines between real and imagination blurred.

I met Cathy and Bill a few years when I did a fundraiser for Boulder Journey School.  They contacted me in Sept to update their family photos.  With 3 boys, I figured some time at Denver's Wash Park would yield a high percentage of activities per capita, you know, lots of (visual) bang for our (location) buck.

We piled into the park with bags, balls and plans for a secret treat at the end of the session.

Enjoy!

What's a Lifestyle session like?

"They're all different, there's not really a formula that I use."
I arrived to photograph Merrilynn's family and they were just having lunch. They invited me to join them, and Oran was instantly intrigued by my gear. I started engaging with him as soon as I arrived, this gets the kids so comfortable. They really don't know what to expect. Their mom told them we were going to take pictures, and here I am PLAYING with them. It goes a long way in the session, instant rapport, people are relaxed and the kids know I'm their friend.

There aren't many kids that have just picked up my camera and tried to take a picture, seriously, a handful. My rule is that as long as they have the strap around their neck things are generally OK.

Oran took photos of his family, and a few fun pics of me.

That afternoon, we played in the yard, went for a ride in my truck, ran through the sunflower field, played with grasshoppers and held a caterpillar.

I wonder what the next session will be like?

I just posted a slideshow from the Davis Phinney's Victory Summit. This was such a moving experience for me. I am deeply touched by sociological issues, and I know that there is some great story out there needing to be told.

Baby Bronco Fan -

Meet Coalton, he is brand new to the world, and already a big fan of the Denver Broncos.  I photographed Coalton last weekend, and he was still small enough to fit into his Dad's old helmet.

Go Broncos!

Newborn and a Dog

This is one of my favorite newborn photos. I love how the family dog is giving him the sniff down. I've heard that dogs have a much grander sense of smell than we do. I can only imagine..

Coalton is already smiling :)

Being a Nana for the first time, Jean brings Coalton in for a kiss.  The contrast in their skin, his nose is so tiny, it could fit under her top lip.

Thailand -  I met with Linette this morning to help her build a website and promotional materials for her Adventure Tour Business.  It's exciting to be revisiting the photos from my trip last year and looking to January this year to perhaps go again!

This Buddah was in the city of Ayutthaya, the old capital of Thailand.  I ventured there on my own after the group left.  I had such an exciting day, traveling there on my own by Tuk Tuk.  It is an exciting story, complete with an episode of "Pimp my Tuk Tuk" more to follow.

It's wonderful to explore the world with a backpack, camera and journal.

Linette is planning a wonderful set of trips that includes opportunities for Thai Massage training, Thai Cooking, and seeing the basic sights.
