The Vagina Monologues - by Eve Ensler

I had the wonderful opportunity over the past week to work with the cast for Boulder's V-Day.

Thank you to Julie Afflerbaugh Photography for sharing her space and this experience and all the women who showed up and trusted us to photograph them.

Our project began with the intention of making prints and having a silent auction to benefit MESA. However, as the sessions flew by and the emotions and experience encapsulated my heart, our direction changed. It became less about doing the auction, and more about having the experience. My vision for the art was all about the softness of being a woman.





In the end, it was all about the collaboration, the women that came to the studio, Julie, Me, and of course the MUSIC! WOW! Together we created something beautiful.

What is V-Day?

V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.

Through V-Day campaigns, a group of Boulder Community women will produce and perform 3 benefit performances of "The Vagina Monologues" to raise awareness and funds for Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA). This is one of the over 3700 V-Day benefit events are taking place, produced by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls.
