Paging Dr. Wood stat to the o.r. we need a ..... ok I might be a self confessed medical drama junkie, perhaps one too many episodes of Grey's Anatomy. This weekend I photographed Cristina's graduation from CU. I first met Cristina when she was pregnant with her son, Ethan. I've had the distinct honor of being there for birthdays, and family gatherings ever since. Cristina and Linda (her mom) have made me feel like a member of their own family. So when Cristina contacted me to be there for the ceremony for the family photos, I gladly accepted. Then I got a super secret email from Linda detailing the real plans for the weekend. A few of her girlfriends were flying in from California to surprise her! Each year they do a girl's trip and this year they all pretended to be overwhelmed or busy and planned to attend her graduation as a surprise! Well, after hearing all that was ahead for the new Doctor, I decided that I had to photograph that little surprise as part of the story. As we waited in The Palm restaurant, the anticipation just built until finally.. Cristina walked in and the look on her face was just priceless! Hugs all around, tears, laughter, pure joy. This is what I live for! Here's a little moment between Cristina and Linda just after the arrival.

Bellies and Babies - What a great day! It started with the Mccalpin family and their newest little girl, Ciara (pronounced Keer+a) Feminine form of Ciaran. From the irish "dark" implying dark hair and dark eyes. And this little sweetie certainly delivered. I've never seen a newborn with such a full head of hair! The big sisters are so excited to finally have their baby sister.

Then I had 2 other belly sessions. Bellies are always so different, sometimes I even get to feel the baby kick!
May 19 - First trip up to Rocky Mountain National Park this season - Leigh's dad was visiting in May and we all piled into the car and headed for the hills. Estes Park is one of my favorite places to take people visiting Colorado for the first time. It's so close to Boulder, and there is such a variety of things to see. They went for a hike after dropping me into Morraine Park, I remember that the sky was so blue and I did land quite a few fish that afternoon. The water was really high from run off and fish seemed overwhelmed with choices of bugs to eat. Luckily, I have my favorite flies that got the job done. After hiking into the valley for about a mile, I plopped down on the bank of the stream for lunch. The sky was typical Colorado blue, and I decided to try out my new homework assignment - sitting meditation. There are certain things I'm not known for and sitting still AND being quiet, well those are 2 of them. It was much easier than I thought, and I laid down on the side of the stream and the little pocket I was in was actually slightly below the line of the water. I had this amazing sensation of the water flowing just above my nose, it was really relaxing.
